My first Wig

Ever wondered what it would be like to wear a wig?

Here is how it went for me. Let me start with, I love it! I tell my family they may never see my real hair again. I'm already looking at "fall hair" Oh the possibilities!

I decided to start wearing a wig at the end of Aug. I picked a short style since I have longer hair. Also It was in the ninetys to low one hundreds that week. My first time wearing it was the day all the parents take their kids to school to see who their teacher will be for the next year. No one recognized me. It was kinda cool and weird at the same time. When I passed by the windows even I did a double take. I should mention the color I chose was lighter than my hair color. I think he first decision any one who is going to get a wig needs to make is Do I want it to look like my real hair or do I want to change my look? Change is good right?

How do you do it?

What to do with your own hair will be different for each individual depending on if you have any hair or how long and thick it is. there are many different options.

Since my hair is about mid back when wet. I first did the split down the middle and pin on both sides followed by a wig cap, that was ok but a little difficult to do. Then I went to a French braid folded back up to the top and pinned. Ok but too much bump at the back. Now what works for me is to French braid and then split the ends into two sections and create two big pin curls, one on each side down by the nape of the neck. I don't need a wig cap if I use some putty or gel to hold the fly aways down. It is so comfortable I don't even remember I wearing a wig.

My next lesson had to do with adjustments to the cap. I'll continue next time.

Private wig sittings are now available at Simi Beauty and Wig Supply call or email for an appointment.
